About Us

The Anchor Point church of Christ is a congregation of Christians meeting in Anchor Point, AK. Our only goal and aim is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to live simply as Christians, following the pattern of the 1st century church that Jesus established through the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).

We believe in God, the Creator of the world (Genesis 1). We believe He has declared Himself to humanity in three persons, God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). We believe that Jesus is the Lord and head over the church (Colossians 1:18), and we hold no creed or central authority outside the teachings of Jesus and his Apostles . We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). We seek to understand the wisdom and teachings God gave in the Old Testament (Romans 15:4) , and we seek to follow and apply the teachings of the New Testament to our lives, individually and in the church (Matthew 7:24).

We follow the pattern of New Testament worship given in the scriptures (Acts 2:42). Our worship assemblies are led by the men of the church who have dedicated themselves to the application of the Bible (1 Timothy 2). We pray, sing a cappella hymns of praise and encouragement, read from the Bible, listen to a lesson of application, and take the memorial service of communion which Jesus commanded his disciples (Ephesians 5:19-20, 1 Timothy 4:13, 1 Corinthians 11:23-29).

Everyone who would like to come and meet with us on our assembly times is openly invited to join us. It would be an honor to meet and get to know you. Please contact us with any questions or if we can assist you in getting here.

History

The church of Christ has been meeting in Anchor Point since 1953, when two homesteading families began meeting together to worship. Other families quickly joined, and a small building was constructed. A larger building was built in the '70s to accommodate the growth of the church. This is the building the congregation still meets in today.
