Ministry at the Annapolis Park Church of Christ

The ministry at The Annapolis Park Church of Christ is the same as that of the first century church of Christ and will never change.

The ministry of our Lord’s church is three (3) fold as he has commanded it to be; (1) Teach the gospel of Christ to all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of The Holy Ghost, (Matthew 28:18-2018 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
)
; (2) Edification of the body of Christ with emphasis on the local body, (Ephesians 4:11-1211 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
)
. This is done primarily by teaching the word of God along with other initiatives designed to grow, strengthen and fortify the faith of the members. That God would grant each member according to the riches of His glory to be strengthened with might by His spirit in the inner man, (Ephesians 3:16-1916 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
)
. That each saint may make their calling and election sure, (2 Peter 1:10-1110 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
)
; and (3) Meeting the needs of the body (benevolence). Giving is fundamental to the faith we have in Christ, (2 Corinthians 8:10-1510 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
)
.

As the Apostle Paul wrote to the church which was at Corinth, For as touching the ministry to the saints, it is superflous for me to write to you, (2 Corinthians 9:19 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:). Giving is the medium and Christians are the primary conduit by which God facilitates the care for his needy children and otherwise supply that which is needed for the work of the ministry of the church, (Romans15:25-2625 But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
26 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
; Acts 6:16 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.; Acts 11:29-3029 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
; 1 Corinthians 16:1-31 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
3 And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.
; 2 Corinthians 8:12-1512 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
, 2 Corinthians 9:19:1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:)
.

Without becoming involved in the work of the ministry of the church, Christians cannot be saved, (Philippians 2:1212 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.; Hebrews 6:9-129 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
)
. Giving is indeed a work which will abound to every faithful Christian’s account, (Philippians 4:16-1716 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
)
.

However, the work of the faithful Christian is not complete upon giving. Each Christian must actively involve themselves in the ongoing threefold ministry of the church, (2 Corinthians 8:55 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.), teaching, edification and meeting the needs of the members.

There is always something for everyone to do, (1 Peter 4:10-11
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
